00s: a crazy decade.

Honestly, I think that the 00s was a stupid decade. When it was the 1990s, people complained about how silly the music was, how terrible the fashion was, and how society had degraded. I would like the 1990s back please. Yes, even with the ugly grunge style and the Monica Lewinsky saga. I am sure most of the world would agree with me.
The 00s Hall of Shame:
George W. Bush!!!
Reality TV
Recession
Bank Bailouts
Hurricane Katrina
Mugabe
Terrible girl groups/pop princesses like Destiny's Child, Hannah Montana, Britney Spears, Avril Lavigne, Miley Cyrus, etc, and etc.

Yet there were some good things:
Lord of the Rings
Pixar (then they sold out to Disney, noooooo)
better cellphones and laptops
China opened up more (and more jobs moved over there)
North Korea had more talks (yet they fired off some missiles)

YUCK! What a stupid decade!
And what on Earth was Jennifer Lopez wearing on New Year's Eve in New York City?!!!

I think she was wearing long underwear, but not a union suit. No buttons on the bottom. That much is obvious. Other than that, I thing she was wearing the guys out.

You are right. The 1980s were better than the 1990s. The 1990s were better than the 00s, simply because there is nothing to 00. Feels like the 00s owe us something.

Bush was a disaster. Obama will be to the end of the 00s (sounds like uh-oh) what Bush was to the start of it all. He's doing a great job advancing the failed policies of both Bush and Clinton. Two for the price of one.

The year 1988 was the year I kissed my first girl, in May, I guess it was, and my second girl, about two weeks before Thanksgiving. Viva Ronald Reagan. Nothing that good has happened to me since the Reagan Administration. Lewinsky and Clinton are some of the things I want to forget about the 1990s. Counting Crows was a good thing.

Half way through the decade I moved to Korea. In 2006 you and I met, have been friends for nearly four years. Before this, sometime in 2004 I met a girl online living in Croatia, and we have been friends for just over six years. Somewhere along the line God answered prayers, God gave blessings, and I wonder if I have been as thankful as I should have been or if I am as thankful as I should be now. In 2007 I became a martial artist, earning a yellow belt, and then earning two injuries related to weight loss.

Sometimes I find myself happy, most times I hover in depressive-neutral, sometimes I mutter some seven-letter curse word for what I remember and wish I could experience again. In spite of the confusion I feel regarding girls, I am thankful I am not so angry or bitter as John is concerning you know who. Jobs, cars, girls, money, life.... there are times when I feel as if I have lost more than I have found compared to what other people have. It isn't about green grass, but a matter of perspective. I want to see the world through God's eyes, but my shoulders can't carry the weight of God's sorrow. Thankfully I have a part to play in such things, and it is not so heavy that I cannot carry it. Until heaven comes, I do not think happiness is mine to find here on earth.

Arthur C. Clark wrote the sequel to 2001: A Space Odyssey. The sequel was titled 2010: The Year We Make Contact. I have adapted that as my own for this year. I pray that this is the year we make contact with God, see Him face to face in heaven. But I think not this year. Soon, but not this year. God is patient, so He will do what is in the best interest of the human race, and then He will do what is in the best interest of His people. But I can still contact God, and it will be a spiritually relevant year to me, hopefully with less foolishness on my part, but more happiness and joy in there somewhere.

This is 2010. Let the blessings begin through us.
