Master of Public Health

I stayed Saturday night at the apartment of an Australian couple. They are nice people. I then went to the Master of Public Health seminar. I am not in the programme yet, but I went to the seminar yesterday to see how it was. I took a seat next to my new friend Maike. We talked for a while. I also met up with Renata, another friend that I had met 2 years ago. I wondered about her, and she said she had wondered about me. I also met up with Grace, who I was introduced to online by my friend Jim.
I think the MPH programme looks great. I am wondering if it's good for a PhD at Loma Linda University in California. I do need to get in contact with LLU and find out. I do think that a PhD is something nice to strive for. A PhD has to be persued for the right reasons. It shouldn't be for the prestige, a plan B, or anything else like that. A PhD is a way of life. It is for the academic knowledge and the continuance of that. It is for the person to see how he/she can do for academia.

While an undergraduate student at Andrews University I took a poetry class. I studied some of A.E. Stallings' poetry. She studied lots of classical poetry and literature of Greece. She does translation of poetry from Greek to English. An interesting thing she said was that when she was at university to study ancient, Greek poetry, she came across some poems that described early springtime flowers such as hyacinths blooming at the same time as later spring flowers. She interpreted that as a "golden age". She was later surprised when visiting the Greek countryside and finding those flowers blooming at the same time . She said that sometimes we do have to take things literally. This poem gave me the chills when I first read it. It is so deep and dark. So, I haven't been posting lately. I have been busy working on my Master's Degree in English and a Master's Certificate in Human Rights. I have been enjoying my studies overall. I have been challenged a lot by studying Chaucer this semester (hey, that guy lived six hundred years ago).  I hope to get at least a B in that class. I worked on my degree last summer, taking one class over Summer Session I and two over Summer Session II to get things done and over with.  I got an A and two A- grades.  I have been trying to stay afloat with this semester. I ended up with one late paper for Chaucer due to my factory job I had at the time and time management.  I ended up losing a letter grade, which made me upset. I decided that I have had enough of Facebook. I have been contemplating deleting my account.  I have already deleted my Twitter at least a year ago.  I also don't have Pinterest or Instagram.  I know that I use Facebook too much.
