I saw this sea turtle in Newport, Rhode Island a few months ago. It's rare to see those so far up north, yet some of them get caught up in the warm currents from the Gulf of Mexico.

What's that rope? Is it caught in it?
Yes, the rope appeared to be caught around its mouth. It was dead and got washed up. It is a leatherback turtle. Those types of turtles lack a true shell and instead have a thick skin to cover it.
